Erectile Dysfunction Treatment in Singapore

Is Daily Electro Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) for me?

We shared in our previous article on Does Penis Size Matters on how having healthy sexual confidence does not depend on size alone nor what to do in the bedroom. Having a strong and lasting erection is equally important as well.
In this article, I will touch more on this 3rd aspect of building one’s sexual confidence with a strong and lasting erection through preventing and or treating erectile dysfunction.
Erectile dysfunction is also known as ED is the inability to achieve or maintain an erection needed for sexual intercourse. This problem tends to affect men as they grow older, but increasingly younger patients in their 20s are seeking treatment as well.

Traditional Erectile Dysfunction Treatment

In fact, in this age of the internet, more and more patients have been empowered to do their Google searches and seek answers from qualified medical professionals, leading ultimately to more men seeking help for ED.
However, what is alarming is that 1 in 6 men still suffer in silence when it comes to their sex life affected by ED.
There are no 2 treatments similar for preventing or treating erectile dysfunction as everyone’s health, lifestyle and condition is different.
Traditionally, treatment for ED centred around pills. This had varying effects as eventually some men become non-responsive to these pills over time and require injection treatments on their penis, also known as intracavernosal injections.

What is Electro Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) for Erectile Dysfunction (ED)

However, the emergence of Electro Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) for ED has become the treatment modality for patients with ED. It offers an improvement to natural erections and restores the physiological mechanism that controls the erection process. To highlight some of the potential advantages of this treatment:

  • Painless
  • Non invasive
  • 20 mins
  • Significant clinical benefit
  • Safe without complications that may arise from a surgery
  • Natural, moving away from a dependence on pills

The doctor applies a probe which generates the shockwave onto different parts of the groin and penis to deliver the treatment.

How Does Electro Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) work?

The ESWT machine creates a shockwave through electrohydraulic means. Here on why ED1000 is the Ferrari of ESWT compared to other electromagnetic ESWT machines.
This shockwave then passes into the penile tissue resulting in
a) Angiogenesis – the creation of new blood vessels and
b) Rejuvenation of the penile smooth muscle tissue.

What is Angiogenesis & Rejuvenation of Penile Smooth Muscle Tissue?

Angiogenesis allows for more blood flow into the penis and subsequently better achieving and sustaining an erection, where rejuvenation of the penile smooth muscle tissue allows for the inflammatory response repair of any previously or potentially damaged venoocclusive mechanism in the penis, allowing blood to be sustained in the penile tissue.

How Many Treatment Session is Needed?

More and more clinical and scientific studies are being carried out on the benefits of ESWT for the treatment of ED.  In fact, a new study carried out for a daily regime of ESWT for 5 days and ESWT every other day for 6 days showed good clinical improvements experienced by patients. It is therefore ideal for men who want a quick lunchtime treatment for ED, or expatriates, travellers who want to get Erectile Dysfunction (ED) treatment in Singapore.

Is Electro Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) Suitable for Me?

ESWT has been shown to be a safe and effective treatment for ED. In fact patients who have had a kidney transplant or prostate surgery have received treatment for their ED with ESWT and shown to have good effect.
However, men who have ED and not respond to intracavernosal may not be the best candidates for ESWT as the improvements experienced are more subdued.
Through ongoing and previous research and the patients we have seen, the expected benefits of ESWT are an improvement of one’s erection and the rejuvenation of one’s penis. Furthemore, men who were on pills previously for ED started to regain their natural erections and did not need to depend on pills as well. Also we see men who did not respond to pills or injection therapy, start to become responsive to these treatments after ESWT. Overall, ESWT also improves the outcome of any concurrent or previous ED therapy.

How long does ESWT for ED last?

Currently the biological and molecular effects of ESWT on ED are shown to have a permanent effect at the basic science level. In patients however, there are a multitude of factors which contribute to the success of ED treatment – including lifestyle, dietary, aging and other concurrent health problems. For some patients, treatment success can be diminished and reversed over time if these lifestyle, dietary, concurrent health problems are not addressed. Current clinical studies where the longest period of follow up is 1 year after ESWT treatment, do show that treatment improvements are sustained after 1 year as well.

Conclusion

ESWT with the Ferrari of ESWT treatment is safe and effective.
As men get busier with their lifestyles or increasingly travel abroad for work, ESWT becomes a quick “lunch time” treatment for ED.
Furthermore, with the recent opening of Changi Jewel at the Singapore Airport and further expansion plans of the aviation sector, Singapore continues to grow as a travel hub. For the many travellers coming to Singapore, Erectile Dysfunction (ED) treatment in Singapore and Erectile Dysfunction treatment for travellers or tourists in Singapore become a viable option, especially with the daily ESWT regime for a week or every other day ESWT regime for 2 weeks.
