(Caring & Treating Since 2005)
What is HIV CCR5 Testing?
Recently in the media, there was talk about why some people may be naturally immune to HIV infection. In fact, there was some controversy when a China researcher genetically modified fetuses to see if they can become immune to HIV infections. These babies were born from HIV positive mothers.
It has been known for about 2 decades that mutation in a receptor called CCR5 causes humans to either be resistant to infection with HIV or delay the progression of HIV infection.
