There are several methods normally performed for adults.
Here at our clinics, we utilize two methods: Shang Ring method and the Stapler Method
Shang Ring Method
Under local anaesthesia, the Shang Ring will be inserted in the foreskin. The outer clamp is then applied externally. The foreskin above the ring is then removed using surgical scissors.
The ring will be left in place for 10-14 days. The patient will then come back to the clinic for removal of the ring. The Shang Ring method is considered one of the safest methods of circumcision by many medical professionals worldwide.
Stapler method
After applying numbing cream for 30 mins, the foreskin is numb and will be ready to start. The Stapler device is made up of two components. The outer and the inner bell. The inner bell is designed to protect the glans. The outer bell comprises a circular blade to cut the foreskin and staples to close the wound for simultaneous hemostasis. First, the inner bell is placed inside the foreskin to cover the glans; The outer bell is placed over the inner bell. Once secured tightly, the handles are triggered to cut the foreskin and the wound is closed by staples at the same time. The device is then unscrewed and removed. A bandage will be applied for 3-4 days.
The staples will drop out on its own by the second week. The patient will then come back for a follow up review.
