Male Pattern Hair Loss Treatment with Regenera Activa

Male pattern balding is very common in men and in rarer cases may also be seen in women. It is caused by a hormone called DHT. Some individuals are more susceptible to it. It has a significant genetic component; if a father has the classic male pattern balding, there is a good chance the son will suffer from it too. Male pattern balding can affect men of any age and may start as early as 20-something of age.

What Causes Male Pattern Hair Loss (Androgenic Alopecia)?

In most cases, it is due to the genes you inherited from either your father or mother or both. Typically, if you are affected by the condition, the hair follicles start to shrink time under the influence.

How Does Regenera Activa Hair Loss Treatment Work?

It uses your own body’s progenitor cells and growth factors to assist with the regeneration of the hair cells.

A very small area around the back of the head is shaved.

The area is then disinfected and a local anaesthetic is injected to numb the area. 3 tiny tissues samples (each 2.5 mm in size) are then taken from the area.

Usually, no stitching needs to be done and there is minimal bleeding in the area where the tissues are removed.

The tissues are then placed in a specialised container that contains a solution.

This container is then put into the machine which will begin to process of extracting the progenitor cells and concentrating it. The process takes a few minutes. After which, the solution is taken out of the container with a syringe and then injected into the area of the hair loss.

Typically, the whole hair loss treatment procedure will take about 30mins.

There is no downtime. You can go back to work or normal activities after the procedure.

There is no need to prepare anything before the procedure. You can eat and drink as usual before the procedure. However, if you are on blood-thinning medicine or anti-inflammatory medicines do let your doctor know as we may need you to stop them at least 1 day before the procedure.

After the procedure, do NOT wash your hair or apply hair products for the next 24 hours.

Also, do NOT swim in the pool or the sea for 1 week after the treatment.

This is treatment is only suitable for male pattern hair loss.

We do not recommend using this treatment for other forms of hair loss like scarring alopecia or Telogen Effluvium.

Our doctors will assess your type and degree of hair loss and will discuss with you if you are suitable for the treatment.

Generally, the effects of the treatment can last between 18 – 24 months. However, this is variable from individual to individual.

Regenera Activa is compatible with other therapies commonly used to treat male pattern hair loss. In fact, you can continue on other therapies if you wish to as it can maximize the benefit of the treatment.

Generally, after successful treatment, the progression of hair loss should stabilize and you will see an increase in density and thickness of the hair around 3-4 months after treatment.

Also under a microscope, we should see a reduction in the number of thinner hair in 1-2 months after treatment.

Common Solutions for Hair Loss

Male pattern balding can be very unsightly and makes a person look much older than he actually is. Many over the counter products and shampoos have been developed to combat this pattern of balding. However, in terms of medically proven treatments, there are only a few options.

Tablets

A medicine is known Finasteride has been available to treat male pattern balding. It is effective and very popular and used by many men. However, there is a small chance that it can permanently reduce libido and volume of ejaculate.

Lotions

A lotion known as Minoxidil has also been available to treat male pattern balding. It is more effective for hair loss at the apex and not so much at the forehead (horns). It can also cause irritation of the skin when applied.

Hair Transplant

This is a surgical procedure where individual hairs are taken from the back of the head and planted into where they are required. It is like planting padi wheat. This is often expensive and requires a significant amount of downtime.

Regenera Activa Treatment

This is a procedure where a tiny bit of skin is taken from the back of the scalp. A machine then extracts the healthy cells from the skin and these cells are injected into where hair needs to grow. It is like putting fertilizer to help hair grow. It is cheaper than a hair transplant and does not require any downtime.
