Premature ejaculation is a sexual problem that occurs when a man ejaculates too quickly after penetration and before he is ready. This leads to the penis being limp and often results in the couple being distressed and troubled during sexual intercourse.
Getting help for PE starts with a precise Premature Ejaculation Diagnosis which will allow the Physician to prescribe appropriate medications for Premature Ejaculation Treatment. This medication is often taken 3-4 hours before planned intercourse and helps lengthen the time between stimulated arousal and ejaculation.

Discovering blood in the sperm (Haematospermia) is an unusual symptom. It can either be a tinge or copious amount of blood. It is there most commonly in men who have undergone a prostate procedure. It is most often not a sign of cancer. However, diagnosis of Haematospermia would involve a thorough investigation of one’s sexual and urological history. This would involve blood, urine, semen tests and even imaging scans to determine the cause of the problem. The subsequent Treatment of Haematospermia would then tailored to the cause of the problem.

Pearly Penile Papules (PPP) or Fordyce spots are enlarged oil glands found commonly around the glans of the penis. They are better seen when the foreskin is retracted. They are 1-2mm in size and have a white pearl-like appearance It may look cosmetically unpleasant and sometimes are mistaken for a sexually transmitted disease. Diagnosis of Pearly Penile Papules (PPP) is a clinical diagnosis and determined quickly by a trained eye.

One of the biggest concerns is whether these are genital warts or a variation of it. The answer is no, as these PPP are normal variations of Penile anatomy. Treatment for Pearly Penile Papules (PPP) is a quick straightforward clinic procedure which is often done in less than half an hour.

Painful erections or painful sexual intercourse experienced by men are often caused by a tight band adhered to the base of glans of the penis to the foreskin. Even with circumcision, some men still have this condition. Diagnosis of Frenulum Breve is made when the foreskin is unable to retract fully on the shaft of the penis because of this tight band limiting the foreskin’s movement.

Surgical Treatment for Frenulum Breve (Penile Frenulectomy) is the treatment of choice and is done in the clinic under local anaesthesia. After an injection to numb the area,  the tight band is cut and released. Stitches are removed after 1 week and full recovery takes about a month.

Soreness, Itchiness, Redness, Irritating, Swelling, Discharge, smelly odour around the penis can be a sign of penile infection. The Diagnosis of Penile infection is a clinical one and further lab tests are often ordered, especially in the presence of a sexual health concern.

Treatment of Penile infection is the same as Balanitis where the root cause is first addressed and subsequently a course of oral and or topical antibiotics is started. If a tight foreskin is present, circumcision is also advised to prevent a build-up of dirt and bacteria under the foreskin which can become a nidus of infection.

Fertility and reproduction are concerns shared during family planning. It is not just a woman’s concern but also a man’s. When there is difficulty with natural conception, Male Fertility Screening is a comprehensive and holistic approach in diagnosing any conditions which may affect male fertility.

Common conditions include hormonal imbalances, sperm production or transport problems or even problems with the initiation, maintenance of an erection and subsequent ejaculation. Male Infertility Management is thus treated according to the outcome of the screening. This could be through the correction of the hormonal disorders, treatment of erectile dysfunction, addressing low libido, or even a multidisciplinary approach involving a qualified psychologist or counsellor.

Testosterone deficiency syndrome which is also known as hypogonadism or low Testosterone is one of the leading causes of Erectile Dysfunction or loss of libido. Common symptoms experienced by men are tiredness and lethargy, poor sex drive and libido and an inability to maintain to or initiate an erection (ED). Causes of TDS are both lifestyle and biochemical. An accurate Diagnosis of TDS or Hypogonadism is crucial in getting the right treatment and management strategy. There are many approaches for  Low Testosterone Management or Andropause (male menopause) Management. One common approach is the initiation of Hormone Replacement Therapy. This is either administered as a gel, patch or injection.

A Peyronie’s Disease Diagnosis is made clinically. Up to 7 in 100 men experience a bend in their penis when erect. The biggest cause of Peyronie’s is damage to the penis during intercourse resulting in a scar or plaque that keeps the penis bent during erection. Significant bent penis curvatures can result in decreased sexual enjoyment from pain or poor erections. Intercourse is unable to proceed if the curvature of the penis exceeds 60 degrees.

Peyronie’s Disease Treatment Electro Shock Wave Treatment (ESWT)* is one of the options we employ in correcting this problem by delivering low intensity shock wave to the scar or plaque, thereby breaking it up. Returning to optimal sexual fulfilment during intercourse is a key goal for treating Peyronie’s Disease.

The prostate gland is about 4cm, the size of a walnut and lies between the bladder and the penis. Its main functions are to release fluids that are the components of semen. When the prostate gland gets infected and inflamed, it is called prostatitis. Treatment of Prostate inflammation (Prostatitis) involves an accurate and comprehensive Diagnosis of Prostate inflammation (Prostatitis) to determine the offending cause and subsequently commencing a course of targeted antibiotics.

The other conditions of that could affect the are the unusual enlargement of the prostate gland. This enlargement can either be benign or malignant. The Diagnosis of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia which is a non-cancerous and benign condition is often done through a full clinical history and examination. Almost one in two men over the age of 50 have an enlarged prostate. Based on the symptoms experienced, Treatment and Management of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia is commenced with medications and sometimes surgical interventions. On top of this, Prostate Cancer Screening is done for men 50-75 years old with a urine test looking for PSA (prostate-specific antigen) levels. A higher than normal reading is an indicator to undergo further tests such as a prostate biopsy to rule out any malignant (cancerous) conditions.

Surgical Removal of Foreskin for Adults also known as circumcision is a procedure performed for patients with recurrent foreskin redness, inflammation, pain, infection. Or most often done for tight foreskin (Phimosis).

For most males, retraction of the foreskin provides optimum exposure of the penis for cleaning and enhances hygiene. But those with Phimosis may find penile hygiene a challenge.  Medical studies have also shown that male circumcision decreases the risk of HIV (Human Immunodefiencicy Virus) transmission by more than 60%.

Circumcision is a stechless procedure done in the clinics. Under local anaesthesia, the Shang Ring will be inserted in the foreskin. The outer clamp is then applied externally. The foreskin above the ring is then removed using surgical scissors.

Redness, pain, inflammation experienced around the foreskin can be a sign of Balanitis. Diagnosis of Foreskin infection (Balanitis) is made with a careful clinical exam and necessary lab tests. It will also be important to understand other factors which may have led to the foreskin infection such as sexual health concerns or hygiene concerns.

Furthermore, some adults with a tight foreskin (phimosis) may be more prone to getting balanitis as bacteria, germs, urine may get trapped in the foreskin, especially when hygiene is harder to observe.

Treatment of Foreskin infection would typically involve a course of oral and or topical antibiotics and circumcision is also recommended if the balanitis has been recurrent due to a build-up of bacteria under the foreskin.

Pain, discomfort, stinging sensation, blood when urinating are symptoms explored during the Diagnosis of Male UTI.  It is uncommon for men to get urinary tract infections as the longer urethra in the male prevents bacteria from travelling up the tip of the penis to the urinary system. During this initial diagnosis, we would also investigate for other urological or Sexually Transmitted infections which may have led to this urinary tract infection.

The Treatment of Male UTI would then be made based on the outcome of these investigations. If it is a STI cause, more will be discussed in our STI section.

STD Symptoms such as burning, discomfort when passing urine, new rashes, boils or sores, unknown discharge, blood in the urine or sperm; all warrant an STI Screening and Diagnosis, especially if there was a new sexual encounter. STI Treatment and Management is critical, because if left untreated can lead to irreversible damage and in some cases to major organs like the heart or brain.

Blood STD testing is similar for both males and females and covers infections including HIV, Hepatitis infections, syphilis and Herpes. Anonymous HIV testing is available at our Robertson Walk clinic.

Treatment of STDs depends on the underlying infection. Treatment of HIV is also available at our clinics.
